As an industry cornerstone and one of the oldest American automakers, Chevy embraces its responsibility to help facilitate a more sustainable automotive future. "We have an opportunity and, frankly, an obligation to create a better future for generations to come," said GM chief marketing officer Deborah Wahl in a keynote speech at CES 2022. The next-generation of GM electrification is here, as the company launches fully electric variants of its most popular models, including the Chevy Blazer EV, currently en route to Ciocca Chevrolet Buick GMC of Flemington. Here's a quick look at some of the highlights.

Performance, Range, Charging

Chevrolet currently offers the 2024 Blazer EV in a few powertrain options, with more configurations arriving later in the launch cycle. Here's a quick overview of what we know so far:

  • All-wheel-drive LT and RS models are powered by dual electric motors, producing 288 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque while achieving an EPA-estimated 279 miles of range per charge.

  • The sporty RWD Blazer EV RS (later availability) uses a more powerful single-motor setup, driving the rear wheels with 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. It also has the most range in the lineup at an estimated 324 miles per charge.

  • Somerville shoppers seeking the most exhilarating Blazer EV experience can look to the SS trim, a high-performance model with an all-wheel-driving 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque. In "Wide Open Watts" mode, the Blazer EV SS can sprint to 60 mph from a standstill in under 4.0 seconds. The EPA has yet to rate the Blazer EV SS, but Chevy estimates around 294 miles per charge.

The Chevy Blazer EV's 85-kWh Ultium battery is capable of 11kW home or public Level 2 charging. For longer trips, you can take advantage of its 190kW fast-charging ability, which can add nearly 80 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

Interior and Practicality

The Chevy Blazer EV is open and inviting, with a stylish, high-tech interior design, nicely cushioned ergonomic seats, and generous headroom and legroom for passengers in both rows. The cargo area provides 25.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats to carry your luggage, gear, or groceries. When you need more room for your Bridgewater errands or outings, you can fold the second-row seatbacks for 59.1 cubic feet.

Standard amenities include automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, and keyless access. Available comfort/convenience highlights include:

  • Heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Power liftgate
  • Wireless charging pad
  • Multi-color accent lighting

The Blazer EV comes standard with expansive display real estate, including an 11-inch Driver Information Center customizable to your viewing preferences. A stunning 17.7-inch touchscreen provides cutting-edge Google Built-in infotainment, with advanced navigation, natural voice recognition, and cable-free smartphone integration via wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

The Blazer EV offers a comprehensive driver-assistance roster, including standard technologies like:

  • Forward Collision Alert
  • Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking
  • Following Distance Indicator
  • Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
  • Blind Zone Steering Assist
  • Rear Cross Traffic Braking
